Thomas Weaver, II is a Cancer Research Training Award (CRTA) Fellow in the HDRP Office of the Associate Director. He holds an MPH from the Rollins School of Public Health at Emory University and a BS in Sports Medicine from Howard University. His current role with NCI focuses on financial hardship and aligns with his personal interests in healthcare delivery with an emphasis on equitable patient access and overall quality of care.
As a graduate student, Thomas served as an operations intern for Stack Sports Performance and Therapy, where he assisted in financial management, policy implementation, efficiency improvements, and maintenance of physical inventory. He also worked as a service performance intern for Emory Healthcare where he examined patient experience improvement measures and recommended patient retention and loyalty solutions. As an undergraduate student, Thomas supported multiple projects as a research assistant focusing on cardiac expenditure, oxidative stress, and activity regiment recommendations. His current research interests include cancer health disparities among underserved populations and the complexities in cancer care delivery, from cancer screening to post-treatment quality of life.
