SEER-MHOS Data for Cohorts 1 through 14
Additional Surveillance, Epidemiology, and End Results-Medicare Health Outcomes Survey (SEER-MHOS) linked data are available: MHOS survey years 1998-2013!
The SEER-MHOS linked database, a population-based resource, is the culmination of a federal collaboration between the National Cancer Institute (NCI) and the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS). The linked database contains information about the health-related quality of life (HRQOL) of elderly (ages 65 and over) Medicare Advantage beneficiaries with and without cancer. The linkage includes MHOS cohorts 1-14 (1998-2013). Cancer data from SEER (1973-2011) on all matches are included in the SEER-MHOS file.
SEER is the premier source for US cancer statistics and collects data on individuals living in specific regions of the US who have been diagnosed with cancer. The MHOS is the first self-reported longitudinal survey of Medicare managed care beneficiaries drawn from the entire US. With the recent additions to the SEER-MHOS database, it now contains MHOS surveys from over two million beneficiaries with over 120,000 linked to the SEER cancer registry.
