The Healthcare Delivery Research Program consists of three branches: The Healthcare Assessment Research branch, the Health Systems and Interventions Research branch, and the Outcomes Research branch.

The Healthcare Assessment Research branch assesses utilization, access, diffusion, and population-based outcomes. Healthcare assessment research concerns whole populations.

The Health Systems and Interventions Research branch observes and intervenes on behavior and context. Health Systems and Interventions Research concerns clinicians and delivery systems.

The Outcomes Research branch evaluates and improves patient experiences and health outcomes. Outcomes research concerns the individual patient.
