Background

Under Medicare Advantage (MA), the Center for Medicare & Medicaid Services contracts with private insurers, principally HMOs and PPOs, to provide care for Medicare beneficiaries. MA coverage of basic and supplemental benefits, benefit designs, provider networks, and care coordination mechanisms may shape beneficiary enrollment decisions and plan choices, and access to specialized cancer care, treatment decisions, and patient outcomes throughout the cancer care journey. This webinar is designed to highlight the intersection of various features of MA plans and cancer care delivery and outcomes. Join us to examine the issues, explore emerging evidence and identify opportunities for future research in this rapidly evolving landscape. The webinar will close with a Q&A.

Intended Audience

This webinar is intended for academic researchers; representatives from private not-for-profit organizations that conduct or sponsor health services research; staff from NIH and other federal agencies; health plan industry organizations; and patient advocacy organizations. The common denominator is an interest in cancer-related care and/or Medicare Advantage coverage for Medicare beneficiaries with serious health conditions.
