Research on Interprofessional Teamwork and Coordination During Cancer Diagnosis and Treatment (NOT-CA-22-014)
Purpose
This notice of special interest (NOSI) highlights the NCI Healthcare Delivery Research Program's interest in receiving applications focused on understanding and improving interprofessional teamwork and coordination during cancer diagnosis and treatment. This webinar provided an overview of NOT-CA-22-014, the application process, and answer questions from the investigator community.
The purpose of this NOSI is to stimulate research that (1) identifies effective strategies for improving interprofessional teamwork and (2) addresses care coordination challenges. Care coordination challenges may arise within a particular care setting (e.g., among members of a clinic or hospital-based care team), between care settings (e.g., between tertiary care and community settings, or between specialty and primary care), and/or during care transitions (e.g., during the transition from diagnosis to treatment, or transitions from inpatient to outpatient or home-based care). Research in this area should advance actionable knowledge about how to design and carry out effective, efficient interprofessional team-based cancer care that improves quality and patient outcomes. Research focused on racial/ethnic minority, medically underserved, or low-income populations and/or those receiving care in community settings (including, but not limited to, community-based cancer centers or clinics) is strongly encouraged.
