Sharon McCarthy, MPH, MSW is a Scientific Program Manager/Research Associate for the Healthcare Assessment Research Branch (HARB) of the Healthcare Delivery Research Program. Sharon provides research management and analytic support for a range of major projects and initiatives.
Prior to joining HARB, Sharon served as a Manager of Special Projects, Training & Accreditation for the American Association of Suicidology. In this capacity, she oversaw various training programs and managed special grants/contracts pertaining to Psychological Autopsy, a postmortem investigative procedure. Her previous experiences include working for the New Jersey Department of Health, supporting the day to day planning, administrative operation and execution to obtain national accreditation status. Sharon has also served as a Health Science Analyst for the NCI office formally known as the Office of Science Planning and Assessment, focusing on strategic planning, portfolio analysis, and evaluation.
Sharon received her BS in Business with a minor in Psychology from Virginia Commonwealth University, and a dual Masters Degree in Public Health and Social Work with a concentration in Behavioral Community Health Sciences and Medical Social Work, respectively, from the University of Pittsburgh.
