Sharon McCarthy, MPH, MSW
Sharon McCarthy, MPH, MSW is a Scientific Program Manager for the Healthcare Assessment Research Branch (HARB). Sharon is involved in a number of cross program initiatives. She provides research management, grants coordination and analytic support for a range of major projects including the Population-based Research to Optimize the Screening Process (PROSPR) and Accelerating Colorectal Cancer Screening and follow-up through Implementation Science (ACCSIS).
Prior to joining HARB, Sharon served as a Manager of Special Projects, Training & Accreditation for the American Association of Suicidology. In this capacity, she oversaw various training programs and managed special grants/contracts. She has significant experience working in accreditation, evaluation and education assessment. Previously, Sharon worked for the New Jersey Department of Health, supporting the day to day planning, administrative operation and execution to obtain national accreditation status. Sharon has also served as a Health Science Analyst for the NCI office formally known as the Office of Science Planning and Assessment, focusing on strategic planning, portfolio analysis, and evaluation.
Sharon received her Bachelors in Business from Virginia Commonwealth University, and a dual Master’s Degree in Public Health and Social Work from the University of Pittsburgh.
