SEER-Medicare Linked Data Resource

The SEER-Medicare data reflect the linkage of two large population-based sources of data that provide detailed information about Medicare beneficiaries with cancer.

SEER-Medicare Overview

Announcements

  • NCI has linked in new area-level measures, see Geographic Area Data for more information.
  • Applications for the 2024 SEER-Medicare linkage data now include the Cancer File to 2021 and most Medicare enrollment and claims data to 2022.
  • Per a new NCI-CMS agreement, NCI will be transitioning how SEER-CMS data are accessed from project-specific files being provided to each requestor to requestors logging into a federally managed enclave environment to complete all analyses. The target date for transition completion is March 1, 2027. During this transition, no new cloud storage plans will be approved; cloud storage will only be allowed if there is a DMP SAQ for cloud storage that was previously approved by NCI or CMS.
