Janet de Moor, PhD, MPH

Janet S. de Moor, PhD, MPH, was appointed Associate Director of the National Cancer Institute’s (NCI’s) Division of Cancer Control and Population Science’s (DCCPS) Healthcare Delivery Research Program (HDRP) in December 2024. In this role, Dr. de Moor leads a team at NCI whose mission is to serve as a catalyst for the field of healthcare delivery research and to enhance data resources, measures, and NCI’s grant portfolio in this area. An experienced scientist with training in public health and behavioral science, Dr. de Moor has developed and managed cancer control and population science research programs as an extramural investigator, an NCI program director, and, most recently, as deputy and acting associate director of HDRP. Dr. de Moor’s work has centered around three major areas: how individuals manage the physical, psychological, and economic demands of a cancer diagnosis; how broader social and economic forces shape access to guideline-recommended care; and how providers and healthcare systems adapt to innovations in care delivery.

Dr. de Moor received her Master of Public Health degree (2000) and Doctorate in Behavioral Science (2004) from the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston School of Public Health and completed a postdoctoral fellowship at Harvard School of Public Health and Dana-Farber Cancer Institute (2006). Before coming to NCI in 2011, Dr. de Moor was an Assistant Professor in the Division of Health Behavior and Health Promotion at The Ohio State University College of Public Health.
